This course builds upon the foundational listening skills developed in Listening 1 and introduces students to more complex, structured, and purpose-driven listening tasks. In Listening 2, learners strengthen their ability to understand longer audio segments, recognize key information, and interpret meaning in diverse contexts.
The course incorporates rich audio input such as short conversations, instructions with multiple steps, brief narratives, and real-life situations. Students begin to practice predicting content, identifying main ideas, and distinguishing details from general information. Activities encourage active engagement through problem-solving tasks, audio-based games, and comprehension challenges that promote critical thinking.
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
-
Follow multi-step directions with greater accuracy.
-
Identify keywords, context clues, and speaker intentions.
-
Understand short dialogues and simple storytelling.
-
Develop confidence in listening without relying solely on visuals.
-
Begin transferring listening skills to speaking activities.
Listening 2 transforms listening into a deeper cognitive experience, preparing students for higher-level comprehension and increased autonomy in language learning.
